Caroline Wilkins

(Great Britain)

 

Caroline Wilkins was born in England 1953. She studied piano and composition at the Royal College of Music 1971–75 with Jeremy Dale–Roberts.

From 1982–87 she worked in Sydney as guest lecturer in piano improvisation and new music theatre composition at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and as composer/performer in various music theatre projects. In 1987 she was awarded an Australia Council grant to study with Mauricio Kagel in Cologne.


Since 1987 Wilkins' music has received performances and broadcasts worldwide, been successful in several composition competitions, and sponsored for performance in numerous festivals. She was awarded the Karl–Sczuka prize from South West German Radio in 2000 for the radio composition Mecanica Natura.

She currently lives in Britain and France and is doing a PhD in music theatre composition at Brunel University, West London.
