I n t e r a k t i o n s - L a b o r
Tania Soubry
(Luxembourg/Belgium)

After doing gymnastics and acrobatics from the age of three, I studied ballet, contemporary dance and some jazz from the age of eleven, and completed a premier prix in contemporary dance at the conservatoire of the city of Luxembourg.
As a dance artist I am especially interested in movement and
dance, and currently especially so in relation to sound/music, specifically
voice and singing, and in relation to reflection/writing/text; how they support,
nourish and challenge each other, as well as maintaining their individual
integrity and value. Like a trio between reflection/writing/text, singing/music
and dancing/movement; a dance between the movement of our consciousness/perception/thoughts,
    our voice and body.
With these, I am particularly interested in the specific, refined and detailed,
within the creation of a particular space/atmosphere/performance and an aesthetic
experience. Currently I am looking at visual arts and film as inspiration
in regard to visual aesthetic and driving images, creating a peculiar, sensuous,
colourful imagery and intricate dreamlike world.
I’d like to participate in the residency as I am interested in looking
at, processing, sharing and challenging (my) ideas, artistic research and
    creative process.
I am also very curious and eager to exchange and explore other medias and
to enter a shared researching and further development, and hopefully beyond
    the residency.
My experience with other media than dance are mainly music, precisely singing,
and I have worked with sound recording and editing, with garage band, and
with video and projection, mainly on iMovie.
From 2000-2002 I studied at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, where
I as well participated in a two days student collaboration in the film Dance
in the Woods, by Thierry De Mey.
In summer 2002 I was a dance web participant, Vienna.
From 2002-2005 I did a BA (hons) in Dance Theatre (first class honour) at
LABAN, London, where I danced, amongst others, for Athina Vahla and Kirsty
Simpson and did a one week workshop with Gwen Welliver and a two week placement
with the Trisha Brown Dance Company in New York.
In 2003 I created the duet Elle ne dort jamais mon enfance, performed at the
Festival Cours des Capucins, Théâtre des Capucins (L), June 2003.
In 2003-2004 I created Wholly, a solo touring as part of the Dance Roads Festival
    in Europe and Montreal.
In 2005 I created Full House, a group piece performed at the “danz festival
lëtzebuerg”, Grand Théâtre de la Ville (L), June 2005
    .
From 2005-2006 I danced with Zephyr in Zanussi, London, was active within
a dance collective called Explorer, working and performing in Copenhagen,
London and Rome, and created the trio it (instead of twenty-one-words), shown
    at Les Repérages, France.
From 2006-2007 I taught contemporary dance in Luxembourg and was involved
in diverse projects as part of the cultural year.
From 2007-2008 I created the solo Back to the roots with Jimy, performed at
the Luxembourg Dance Festival, Nancy and Zagreb.
In the same year I danced with EDge, a postgraduate dance company at The Place,
London Contemporary Dance School, working with Filip Van Huffel, Rosemary
Butcher, Jonathan Lunn, Rosemary Lee, Gabriela Tropier and Rachel Krische,
    touring in England and Europe.
In April 2009 I finished my MA at The Place, consisting of my adaptation and
performance of the solo entitled I’ll crane for you (2008), choreographed
by Deborah Hay, learned at the SPCP in Findhorn, Scotland, in August/September
    2008.
In May 2009 I was in a dance artist residency at the Centrul de Cultura GEORGE
APOSTU, in Bacau, Romania, creating, in collaboration with performer and musician
Sam Alty, the duet Two people coming together, which we kept working on and
performing till February 2010, in Romania, Luxembourg and London.
In summer 2009 I participated in a project by Sally Marie and workshops by
Chisato Ohno and Rosalind Crisp as part of Choreodrome at the Place, London.
In January 2010 I worked with Vangelis Legakis culminating in a showing at
    Siobhan Davies Studio, London.
In February and March 2010 I was in residency at the Firking Crane in Ireland
for a dance film by Géraldine Vessière entitled “Face
à face” and a trio choreographed by Elodie Escarmelle (Small
    Room Productions) entitled “Oh Deer”.
From the 28th of June till the 13th of October I was dancing within the project
“Circadian” choreographed by Annick Pütz, composed by Camille
Kerger and played by United Instruments of Lucilin, in Paris, Luxembourg and
    Shanghai.
I am currently living in Bruxelles where I pursue my love for the art of dance,
as well as tapping deeper into my love for music - singing and playing the
guitar- and researching and preparing for a new creation for 2012 with the
working title “soulsongdances”, starting with residencies in danscentrum
jette the two last weeks of June and at P.A.R.T.S./Rosas studios in July.
