Helenna Ren

Dancer & Multimedia Artist

 

Born in China, now living in the UK, Helenna Ren tarined in ballet and contemporary dance, and received her BA Hons Contemporary Arts in Performance and Live Arts at Nottingham, England. She is completing her Master of Arts in Digital Performance at Brunel University, West London. Her vigorous and various background ranges from dance, theatre, photography, music improvisation, installation, and sonic art to video and live performance. Her latest work focuses mainly on digital performance.

Ren’s work includes A Void Dance (Nottingham, 2004 UK), which presents a solo site-specific piece regarding the relationship between private and public space, Twice strange in a strange land (2005 Dubai), a film that explores the notion of strangeness/otherness. Her most recent work, Shu-Ma (Nottingham 2006 England), is a film, sound and performance piece based on the theme of escapism. Ren is also proud to have been a member of DAP Lab-Team since 2003. She is currently working on the Suna no Onna in Germany and London.
