Katsura Isobe

Katsura Isobe is an
independent dance artist. Katsura's practice is drawn from Somatic approach,
which focuses on moving
from inside-out, as a result of body-mind integration. She enjoys finding
different inter-relationships in performance creations, and has strong interest
in unconventional flexible formats of performance, as well as conventional
set ones in theatres. Her collaboration experience includes Carol Brown (site-specific,
interactive installation), Caroline Collinge (costume design), Thomas Kampe
(Feldenkrais® Method and improvisation), Stephanie Schober (contemporary
dance), Paul Verity Smith (sensor interaction) and Fulvio Rubesa (Photography).
Katsura holds BA Dance and Dance Education at Ochanomizu University, Tokyo, Japan, and MA Scenography [Dance] at Laban Centre London. Alongside of creative works, Katsura has taught contemporary dance technique and choreography in some colleges and universities, and currently teaches Pilates based body conditioning as a qualified teacher.
