Inside this side of the mirror/Constructing the Sybille’s world

28.julio.2009

So sorry to stay far away...
We had been constructing the Sybille’s house.
I really feel so comfortable with the big and empty 10KV Studio in the Göttelborn mine.
First of all, we constructed the installation work. It is a way. The first piece of the way is made by a soft and confortable yellow cotton, this kind of material is used to isolate the walls from external umidity and also sounds, and I found it inside a hole in the building. The second piece is made by glass, I broked some wine bottles, and just green botles, to make this part.

This installation is a metaphorical way to try to translate the relations between an autistic skin and clothes. Sybille used to be so so sensible to the clothes…She does not like rigid and right clothes…She can not use some kind of material, she prefer soft and confortable clothes, and in her childhood was a real and big problem this relation with the clothes…

So, in the first piece of the installation, just walking in the way, we can feel as Sybille’s skin, so confortable in the cotton part and so unconfortable and also dangerous in the glass part, we can really cut our skin…

The idea is to have two differents characters during the performance walking in this installation…One character is a woman (Ushi) with a big hair around her FACE, and also using black clothes, clothes that cover her skin, and also using high plataform shoes…the hair and the clothes try to protect her body, she does not want skin contact, as a autistic skin…The other character is a woman (Caroline) in a confortable, made by white cotton, bath cloth…we can see the character singing and also walking in the cotton part and after in the glass part of the way…

We already constructed the two secrets rooms of Sybille’s world. One is called the “Sybille’s room” and the other one is called “The mirror room”.
